Going out in Style

all photos are made by me or friends of mine

As I told all of you in my last post, I went to Rock Werchter this weekend. And my-oh-my, what an amazing weekend! Last year I went to my first festival Pinkpop, and because the RW line-up seemed better this year. Me and 9 friends teamed up, and decided to go! My boyfriend came over from London and we met 8 other of my friends on the festival. With 5 tents lined up on camp side A3 we were able to get to festival grounds within 10 minutes. Unfortunately I missed a few bands on the Thursday because I had to redo a test. I'll summ up the bands I did see:

Thursday:  Elbow, The Cure, The Kooks, Skrillex
Friday: X, Mastodon, Katzenjammer, Gossip, The Temper Trap, Pearl Jam
Saturday: Noah and the Whale, Nneka, Simple Minds, Ben Howard, Mumford & Sons, Regina Spektor, The xx
Sunday: The Vaccines, Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, Dropkick Murphys, Ed Sheeran, Florence + the Machine, Snow Patrol, Red Hot Chilli Peppers

And I have a three definite favorites: Katzenjammer, Dropkick Murphys and Mumford and Sons. Katzenjammer was the first one we saw. I already saw 2 of their shows before, but on a festival. WOW, they are simply amazing, even my boyfriend of whom I totally thought he would dislike it, loved it. Their music is festive, folk and absolutely perfect for a festival. I absolutely love these four Norwegian girls.
As for Mumford & Sons, I've been a fan for quite a while now and tried to get up front with my friends. Which worked quite well. But Mumford & Sons are such an amazing live band, you can't seem to find the difference between live and the album. Amazing!
And the third one came as a complete suprise, Dropkick Murphys. Google one of their songs and you'll find an Irish punk-folk band. I listened to a few of their songs before the festival and wanted to check it out. But men, they make a massive Irish party of their performance. I danced my feet of and had such a good time while dancing and singing along the words I did know.

All the other bands I saw were really good and enjoyable to watch as well. (except for the Vaccines who were a bit of a disappointment live) My entire weekend was totally epic and a great start of my official summer holiday. The weather was beautiful except for the bit of rain, cold nights and sunburns. But I gladly hope to do this again next year!

As we used to say this weekend (in a Batman voice):
Raise the roof, holla!
