What to buy: Help me out!

I'm stuck in a dilemma. (first world problem?) I promised myself that I can buy one of these babies. But I really can't decide. What would you guys do?

1. Nike Free Run 3.0
I started running again and love these beauties. (but only for running!) They're supposed to be very comfortable as well.

2. A leather biker jacket
I think I've been looking for the perfect leather jacket for about 3 years now. And I know where to buy it.. But it's quite an expense.

3. Camera equipment
I've got some stuff I want for my DSLR, especially for filming. So a shoulder rig, microphone and viewfinder would do!

Life.. It's passing by so fast!

Nieke, you're probably graduating in 2 months. You'll be finishing school and get your bachelor. It's time to make decisions.. Help? Even by the thought of it I'm already freaking out. I try not to worry to much but everyone who knows me quite well knows I'm a stresser. A planner. What will I do when I finish school? Will I go back to the Netherlands to find a job? Or stay in London, living with my boyfriend. Am I ready to work full time on the age of 21. Or do I want to get a master?

Everything is coming closer and closer.. Creeping up on me. Because of my graduation the blog posting is not going as well as it did before. I'm sorry about that! But school is the most important thing right now. Working 5 days a week, from 9 to 6 is quite tough. 

So today I'm leaving you guys with a song about 'the good life'. To settle down for the day. I have some blogposts coming up, they need some more time for writing. So here you go, a band I'll see live in 2 weeks somewhere around Shephard's Bush in London: OneRepublic.

2022: A day in my life

I throw my pillow across the room. 'Turn the music off!' A loud guitar sneer comes from downstairs. When I turn around and touch my iPhone 9, a screen pops up, 11:30.
'It's half 11 get out of bed.' Joe jumps up the stairs and peaks in to my room. 'What're you still doing in bed?' I wave the screen away and turn around.
'I have a week of, I needed sleep.' I slowly sit up, the sun peaking through the curtains. I just came back from a month trip to Scotland for some filming, my first big job as a assistant director. A new tv show for HBO which I can't say the name of. The only thing I can say is that it's medieval-fantasy show, but very different from Game of Thrones, which ended 3 years ago.
'I can see that. Do you want to go out for lunch?' I nod and slowly get up. I walk into the next door walk-in closet and put on my dressing gown. I managed to get one of the two spare rooms into a walk-in closet. As long as the other room could be used for gaming and Joe's guitar. We moved in about two years ago, the two floored apartment outside the center of London seemed perfect. The music turned on again, I walk down the stairs while taking a quick look in the mirror. My hair is insanely curly, like it always is in  the morning.

Bucket list - 30 before 30

Inspired on Sanne's video I want to make a list of 30 things I want to do before I'm 30. So here I go.

1. Visit 5 of the 7 continents. (Currently on 2)
2. Watch at least 100 movies of the IMDB top 250 list. (I'm on 59)
3. Go to San Diego Comic-Con.
4. Get a job in movie business.
5. Run a marathon.
6. Visit the 'Wizarding World of Harry Potter'.
7. Swim with a dolphin.
8. Be an extra in a film. 
9. Go to a casino, preferably in Las Vegas.
10. Find a job I love.
11. Drive on the left side of the road. (in the UK)
12. Own a designer bag. 
13. Learn to play a musical instrument.
14. Go tour skiing.
15. Get my own house.
16. Take archery classes.
17. Read 30 books in a year.
18. Do a year project. (so photography, video etc.)
19. Make myself a cosplay dress. 
20. Dye my hair blonde.
21. Read all the Lord of the Rings books.
22. See the Northern lights. 
23. Go to a metal concert.
24. Don't eat meat for a week.
25. Graduate my course.
26. Start running at least once a week.
27. Do more personal portfolio work.
28. Play a game of real-life Quidditch.
29. Buy a Black Milk Clothing legging.
30. Give all my good friends something special, just because.

In a year time.. (or maybe an earlier update?) Let's see what I've achieved.

I've been doing this a few times before but thought it might be a nice combination for the blog. Especially with a lot of events and holidays are coming up. Hope I did okay in this one!

The things I learned in the UK

Sometimes you say one of those things.. Which might sound really weird in English, but sounds very logical in Dutch.. Or maybe when you're in America. Well I'll explain some of those things to you now. The perks of being a Dutchy in the UK, or just forgetting an English word.

1. The difference between pants and trousers/jeans. 
Yes I made this mistake a few times. Pants in the UK are the word for underwear, all though in America pants are the same thing as trousers. Well don't say pants in the UK because people will think you mean your underwear, awkward. So me shouting I bought new pants, not a great idea.

2. Ace, another word for cool.
Ever heard of the word 'ace', well I hadn't, but it's basically a British word for cool. Ace right?

3. Forgetting the word for a grill? And calling it a 'rooster'. (which is the Dutch word)
It happened. Me calling a grill a 'rooster' was definitely hilarious. If you know what the English word rooster means.. It turned out to be a weird conversation.

4. The dutch word 'hoor', don't ever use it.
'Hoor' is an actual word in Dutch, but when you say it in the UK.. It might sound weird. It's like the word 'like', you say it to make a sentence stronger. Let's just say it sounds like one of those swear words in English, so be careful!

5. The word 'soccer'
Don't EVER use it. Soccer is for the Americans, in the UK it's just football.

6. Your, you're. 
YOU ARE and YOUR. Two different phrases, you won't hear it when you say it. But you will when you write it down.

7. Unfortunately.. Peanut butter.
This is something we definitely had to explain, as this is a Dutch phrase. Me, my friends and boyfried visited Rock Werchter and came up with 'unfortunately peanut butter' which is actually a Dutch saying. 'Helaas pindakaas', and as if that makes any sense (it doesn't) it rhymes. Which made it hilarious in English, and now we say it.. All the time. (It's a bit look 'to bad' in a funny way)

DailyGrace is gonna teach you something..

One of my best friends and me have been imitating this girl for the last 2 weeks. So I thought I'd make a blog about it. DailyGrace is a Youtube vlogger and absolutely hilarious. You might either hate or love her, and in my case.. I love her!
So when you see two girls in Utrecht walking around shouting BYEEE, plinging (what Grace does in the beginning of every video) or saying it's sexy friday. It's probably me. Especially her reviews (check out the One Direction review) are amazing. If you have a free day? I'd suggest you watch some of her videos.

 

Explosion

Wow, I'm so sorry for not blogging for longer than a week! It's been absolutely hectic this week and I didn't have a tiny bit of time. As my boyfriend came over, school ate my time and work peeked in. There are a few things which happened.
One: I cut my hair. Which means one side is now shorter than the other.
Two: My boyfriend went back to London again. Sadface.
Three: I got a job interview for another London internship!
Four: Me, my parents, my sister and boyfriend booked a ski holiday for Christmas and I'll be spending NYE in London.
Five: RingCon is this weekend!

And the sixth one will be. Don't expect a blog post until next week, RingCon will suck up my entire weekend and as I'm absolutely excited. Blogging will not work out. I'll definitely post some pictures the week after and show you some of my work for school.
But for now, I need some sleep and continue my very busy life.

How to get an internship in a foreign country?

I've had so much questions about this. How did I get my internship in London? Well as it definitely wasn't easy. I've got some tips and tricks on how to do it. As I learned quite a lot from my search. And will start a new hunt next month again. Because I'm trying to get another one in London for my graduation internship. So here we go.

1. Make sure your CV, portfolio and motivation letter are neat and (in case of media/graphic internships) try to make them creative and notable. Send a letter or maybe a package, so you'll stand out.

2. I know people don't like calling. But try to do it. They'll hear your voice, which is already a lot more personal then an e-mail. So pick up your phone and ask if an internship is available.

3. In case you really don't want to call.. E-mailing doesn't work that good. I e-mailed about 45 companies of which I had about 8 replies. None of them needed interns at this time. But maybe you'll get lucky! So try, try and try even more. 

4, In case no one replies, what happened in my case, look on the internet for companies who will find the internship for you. It will cost a bit of money but it does work. (not always very smoothly so pick a company with care) And that's how I found my internship in the end.

5. Another idea would be, book a flight to the place you want to go. (if that's affordable) And just step by some companies. Try to network and maybe it'll work in the end. Companies in your own country might be able to help out a bit as well. 

6. Don't give up and start early! Try to start quite early so you won't stress out when it doesn't work.

So... Blogging

After entirely cleaning, re-designing and re-thinking my blog. I decided to start again. That's right, my ever failing blog attempts is blown in to a new life. And as a fashion blog didn't really seem to work, I'm gonna try an inspiration blog. Posts about my life, events, fashion, architecture, photography and design. And yes I'm planning on making categories and keeping my blog nice and clean.

The weird thing is, that I always seem to come up with "restarting" my blog while I'm super busy and in the middle of a lot of school work. Well here I am again, preparing for a test, working on a project and totally stressing out. And yes, a blog seems to be a perfect way to write your worries away. All though that doesn't always seem to help. I decided to continue writing in English as this has become my second language. I might use it as often as I speak Dutch (which is my native language).
I'll try to post at least three posts a week. As there are a couple of holidays coming up, I'm not sure if this is this will happen. But I'm eager to try. Of course if you have some suggestions, feel welcome to add those in the comments.

I like sharing things I do, things I make and things I live. I hope you'll join me on this journey.
