Why a long distance relationship can work!

It's time for another one of my rants! As I just wanted to take some time to post a reaction on this article.

At first.. I wanted to say that I absolutely disagree on this article by saying a long distance relationship can be a good idea, if you both want to make it work. Love isn't something you pick, it's something that happens. No matter where you are! And as Shakespeare says: "The course of true love never did run smooth."

So as some of you might know I've been in a long distance relationship for about a year. The last 3,5 months I've been living together with my boyfriend which changed everything. But we did live on at least a 5 hours travel before all that. (..train, bus, plane, train, bus, tube...) And I know from stories and people around me that it could be worse then that. (He could've been from Australia or.. the USA!) We were able to see other once every month, as the distance between London and Utrecht is doable and most importantly: affordable. Me being a student luckily saved some money and was working next to school. My boyfriend has a full-time job which made it easier to pay for this all.

But not only that.. Why would a long distance relationship be so much different from a normal one. If you really like, or even love each other enough, the distance shouldn't hold you back. You can't touch other, and can't be face to face all the time. But the feeling should still be there, of course it will be more difficult. But why should you have to fall in love with someone who lives close, in the same country. You can't place love between borders. Reading Elite Daily's article made me quite angry. We live in 2013, we have internet, we have smartphones.. Wouldn't this be the time to be in a long distance relationship possible? Things like Skype, Whatsapp, Viber and other apps will make staying in touch possible.

2022: A day in my life

I throw my pillow across the room. 'Turn the music off!' A loud guitar sneer comes from downstairs. When I turn around and touch my iPhone 9, a screen pops up, 11:30.
'It's half 11 get out of bed.' Joe jumps up the stairs and peaks in to my room. 'What're you still doing in bed?' I wave the screen away and turn around.
'I have a week of, I needed sleep.' I slowly sit up, the sun peaking through the curtains. I just came back from a month trip to Scotland for some filming, my first big job as a assistant director. A new tv show for HBO which I can't say the name of. The only thing I can say is that it's medieval-fantasy show, but very different from Game of Thrones, which ended 3 years ago.
'I can see that. Do you want to go out for lunch?' I nod and slowly get up. I walk into the next door walk-in closet and put on my dressing gown. I managed to get one of the two spare rooms into a walk-in closet. As long as the other room could be used for gaming and Joe's guitar. We moved in about two years ago, the two floored apartment outside the center of London seemed perfect. The music turned on again, I walk down the stairs while taking a quick look in the mirror. My hair is insanely curly, like it always is in  the morning.

Meeting a celebrity

I didn't meet that much people just on the street, but I did meet quite a few on events. The ones for which you pay money yes. But I would like to share my experience with you. I didn't really speak to every of these people but to the ones I did, it was an amazing experience. This is not to brag, because you don't just go to these events, you invest quite a bit of money and time to actually realize this kind of events. I just want to share my experience with you.

What is 'meeting' exactly? I've been to a few premieres where I've seen people but didn't speak to them because of the amount of people being there. So I want to make that split right here, I'm starting of the blogpost with people I've seen and people I've met. Not including in the people I've seen are artists at concert, because the list would become to big. I'll include an (a) after the people I managed to get an autograph of.

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson (a), J.K. Rowling, Rupert Grint (a), James & Oliver Phelps (a), Tom Felton (a), Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Evanna Lynch (a) and because this would take ages I'm just going to say, the rest of the Harry Potter cast.
William Moseley, Ben Barnes, Georgie Henley (a) (who I had a very short talk with, but only because I said she looked beautiful), Skandar Keynes, Will Poulter (a), Anna Popplewell and same story here, the rest of the Chronicles of Narnia cast. (+ One Direction, Rebecca Ferguson and Matt Cardle who attended)
Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law (Sherlock Holmes premiere), Orlando Bloom (a), Luke Evans (a), Logan Lerman and a few more at the Three Musketeers premiere. David Tennant (walked by us on an event), Tom Hardy (who we casually saw somewhere on the streets in London).
Billy Boyd and Sean Astin who attended RingCon and start in The Lord of the Rings.

I also met Simple Plan, Lifehouse, Justin Nozuka, Scouting for Girls and Jack Savoretti. (I do have autographs of all these artists, on my Pinkpop hat haha)

Another post of cosplay

Nieke you promised to show us more photos. I know! And am so sorry, but the video is waiting to be edited and while I was actually planning on doing that today.. I lost the cable for my hard drive so now I can't get to the footage. Sorry! Will try to get it done for somewhere this week. And the photos.. I'm still planning on making those. But these one more essential thing which has to arrive in the apartment before I really want to show everything.

I also wanted to let you all know that I'll be back in the Netherlands from this Saturday on. I'm leaving my laptop in London so I'm not sure if I'll be able to post some blogs. I'll definitely do my best as I'll probably use my parents iPad for those few days. I'll be back in London on Thursday.

But what I actually came here for today is another post of cosplay. 

Christmas Lights

To old for dressing up?

First of all, thanks so much all for the comments on my video. I've got a lot of comments on me 'not looking in the camera'. But I've got a flip screen, so I was looking at.. myself. I'll try to pay attention to that next time and thanks for pointing it out to me. 

Shine a little light

Another thing I like about the winter, and the early sun down. Candles! Especially now I live on my own. They make me feel like it's almost Christmas and even if you're alone, the candles are there to give you some light. I like different colors but do want them to fit together. The candle in the glass is a scented one. Both my roommates smoke, inside the house, and is I'm a non and anti smoker and don't want my room to smell entirely like cigarettes. This little fella helps me out, and it really helps, my room is now surrounded by lemon-y smell.
The only important thing you can't forget.. Put those babies out before you go to bed!

The stores I buy them? There are a lot of stores in the Netherlands with candles. If you want cheap ones? Action, Blokker, Xenos.. But also IKEA, Hema and cute little stores you'll find around and about will definitely sell candles. If you got any recommendations, I would love to hear!

Find your greatness

As the Olympics are on, sport videos start to raise up again. And as the first video from Nike has a little association with my latest Crush post. (Tom Hardy did the voice over) The second video is the official song for the Olympics by Muse called Survival.

Why would I post these? I always get really caught up while watching sport events like this. I'm a bigger fan of the Winter Olympics but love the emotion and time people put in to sports. I know how it feels to train really hard and being eager to win. And all the hard work, happiness and dedication. I can't believe a 15 year old actually won a gold medal. Her tears almost made me tear up. I think it's one of the most wonderful things to see people achieve their goals. 

That is one of the things which makes me love the Olympics. (and of course other sport events)

I'm a nerd, hi!

My mind seems confused

My mind seems so confused sometimes. And no, this isn't because I just finished my 3rd year of college. I'm living my life in two different languages. Dutch and English. My personal life, at home, work and school are spoken in my native language, Dutch. But online and all the contact I have with my boyfriend are in English. And yes even online with friends I tempt to use the English language instead of Dutch. Weird huh? The languages seem to mix up sometimes which results in me forgetting Dutch words and using the English one, or just the other way around. I notice that my time in London didn't do good for my Dutch language either. I never got any comments on my Dutch language before, and now I'm struggling to find words and even my grammar seems worse. And wait, I'm writing this in English as well. As my boyfriend like to say I speak Dutchlish. 
And yes, I did start talking in Dutch to him a couple of times. This results in him staring at me and me being confused. 'I just said something Dutch to you didn't I?' Yes, first world problems. 

Festival swing

Summer is coming

Finally. I finished up my last big project and now I have to wait until evaluation time. A bit of time to rest because the last few days were crazy and super busy. Deadlines at the end of the year are always the worst. But that leaves me thinking about SUMMER. Because it's finally almost there, and there are definitely some things I really want to do summer of 2012 next to my travel plans. So here I go.

LEARN HOW TO PLAY GUITAR
Another thing I've been wanting to do is learn how to play guitar. I've already been practicing for a bit but didn't have time for it that much yet. I figured that I'm a lefty (which is not a surprise because I'm left handed as well) so I need to turn the guitar the other way around. I'll try to continue playing and hopefully I'll be able to play some songs at the end of the holiday.

CLEAN AND CHANGE MY ROOM
My room is full. Every corner is filled with either shoes or DVD's. And because my tiny bed has to go and make room for a double bed I need to make some changes. Throw a lot of unnecessary stuff away and try to get some space. I actually really looking forward to this.

MAKE PREPARATIONS FOR GRADUATION
It still seems so far away but next year this time I'm probably graduating from college. I'll be finishing up my last year Communication & Media Design. And because I really want to go back to London and do another internship there. I need to get started early, I fell in love with the city (and a guy) and the urge to go back has been bigger then ever. My parents are right behind me and, luckily, totally support me.

LEARN HOW TO SOW
I can knit, but sowing. That's something I can't do. As I started to try and make my own costumes for conventions and fantasy fairs I've been eager to learn how to sow. So if I've got some time left. I might try and ask my mom if she can explain some beginners lessons.
I already did order some studds to pimp up some shoes, blouses and cardigans. Plus I'm gonna cut some of my band t-shirt apart to make them more special. So stay tuned for DIY stuff, because I'll definitely share.

READ A LOT OF BOOKS
As every I do every summer I plan on reading a lot of books. Because of school and social life I only get to read about one book a month. But in the summer I always tend to read a lot. And what's on my book shelve to read? All the Song of Ice and Fire books after Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin, the Lord of the Rings books by J.R.R. Tolkien, Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and Inheritance by Christopher Paolini. I'm entirely sure I won't finish all of them but there's at least I've got something to chose.

Well I don't really need to explain this one, do I?

At the end of summer I'll let you all now if I succeeded.
