Music: Favourites

As I didn't really do a music post before. I'm going to share some of my favourite songs at the moment. I have a very diverse taste in music but rock would be my favourite genre. I'll sum up some of the best songs I listen to at the moment.

Imagine Dragons - Demons

I didn't discover this band until about a month ago. One of my friends had been talking about it for a while so I decided to give it a try. I fell in love with their song RadioActive which had been used for 'the Host' trailer as well. When I got their album I discovered this song.

Metallica - The Unforgiven

Like I said.. Diverse taste in music. My boyfriend is a massive Metallica fan and that's why he bought me Metallica Guitar Hero for the Wii. I'm already a big fan of Enter Sandman, but after listening to that a lot. I was in need of something now, and the Unforgiven it was!

Favourite #2: Mumford & Sons

So I've decided that the 'Favourite' I did a while ago might be a good recurring subject. I'll pick a subject of whatever, last time it was my own jewellery. This time it's going to be one of my favourite bands at the moment: 'Mumford & Sons'. 
As I just watched their new film on Blu-Ray. The Road to Red Rocks. I fell absolutely in love again. For those of you who don't know Mumfors & Sons (which seems slightly impossible) they're a British folk rock band from London and got popular in quite a short amount of time. The band consists of Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, "Country" Winston Marshall and Ted Dwane.
They're absolutely amazing live and as I saw them at Rock Werchter last year I can definitely say they are. I have to miss out on their show in Amsterdam as I'll be in London for my internship at that time. And as they're doing their shows in London right now, I'm not gonna be able to go unfortunately. But there might be an opportunity over the summer, as I'm sure they'll do some festivals. The music they make sound like a sunny autumn afternoon which I would be able to enjoy every day.

Album review: Taylor Swift - Red

Music. My taste will go from Metallica, AC/DC and Muse to Mumford & Sons, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. I like a lot of different genres but love to discover new bands and go to concert in small venues. 

I decided I'll share my opinion about Taylor Swift's new album Red. I've been listening to Speak Now and Fearless for about a hundred times and while I was a bit sceptic about this album, I was still very excited about Red. After hearing a few first songs, I lost hope as I had to get used to her new style a lot. The experimenting and change from her country style to more of the pop side. (which I definitely didn't like) 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' started to grow on me. And I liked 'Red'. But then 'I Knew You Were Trouble' released. The worst song so far in my opinion. It sounds like a dubstep song which was screwed up by some dj. 

I've got a little secret to tell

I've got a little confession to make. A guilty pleasure. A year ago, British X-Factor, I watched it every week, BBC ITV Player is one of the things which can be used if you're living in London. (as it's only for UK citizens) I was a big fan of Aiden and liked Cher Lloyd. And come on after a 5 day workweek I could use some brainless tv. But then there was this boy band, five guys who all auditioned on their own. But the judges made a band of them. You all know who I am talking about. One Direction. Almost every 14 year old girl is going crazy, they all love Liam... (I don't know what the other names of the guys are, Nial?) Well I wasn't a big fan of them. But I have to admit, now their music is catchy. When I was younger I've always listened to a lot of pop (Robbie Williams, Christina Aguilera, guilty!) and all though I'm more of punk/rock girl now.. I really like One Direction's new song. Jup. I admit it. It's catchy and able to bring back the summer. 

I'm not a fan, but yes this song is catchy and you'll sing it the entire day after hearing it. You're welcome!

Music of the fall

So fall is slowly peaking through. And some new albums (and hopefully tours) are coming up. And as I'm really excited for some new albums. I'd want to share some with you.

First Mumford & Sons with their new album Babel which will release the 21st of September. After a long wait of 2 years they will finally release their new album. I already pre-ordered it and absolutely can't wait.

Next Muse with the album The 2nd Law, and as Muse likes to experiment with new styles I'm very curious about it. I didn't like the first official song of the album but still can't wait to hear the entire album. Especially because I'll be visiting their concert in December.

Taylor Swift and her album Red. I might call it my guilty pleasure, but it actually isn't. I love some sweet, girly, pop music once in a while. And Taylor Swift is definitely one of my favorites. As I'm a bit to sure about the first song, and especially the co-writer of the album.. We will have to wait and see what this will become.

Paramore. I have no idea what the new of this album is going to be as it isn't announced officially yet. But yes there is gonna be a new album. I've seen one of their shows which was fantastic. Please please release some more information!

Summer jam

Every year our group of friends ends up having a summer jam. A song we freak out about and just because it's so bad or funny we like it in the end. Last year it was Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO. This year it'll have to be Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen. Overrated and a standard pop tune. I wasn't sure about the song at first, but you have to admit, the music video has a nice twist to it.

It doesn't really fit in to my general music taste, but it is catchy!

Going out in Style

You shook me all night long

It's time for a music post. I listen to a lot of different music genres. Some of my classmates asked me what I genres I mainly listened to, I asked them to guess. The first thing they said was metal. I think I was wearing my Metellica t-shirt that day, but thought it was rather funny. I do listen to metal but I told them there's a lot of country, rock, pop and acoustic music in my playlist as well.
But the genre I'm most into right now would definitely be rock. And yes then I mean old school rock, so talk Kansas, Queen, AC/DC, Nirvana, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon and Black Sabbath. To name a few of my favorites. I would've loved to see those bands in the 1980's, at their best times. But unfortunately I was born in 1991..
I wouldn't say that I'm not into rock bands which are around now, I love the Pretty Reckless, Foo Fighters, Muse and Switchfoot, to name a few. But the old rock is harder, louder and most of all rough. I like the sound of the electric guitars and the pureness of the tracks. It sounds more real as there wasn't that much software to edit music yet.
